Changing fuels or changing patterns? The role of renewables in sustainable urban mobility.

Air and noise pollution, high greenhouse gas emissions, traffic congestion, health and safety issues are some of the main challenges in urban development planning. While e-mobility seems to be an ideal solution, concerns about sufficient energy from renewable sources and about the sustainability of the production chains are raised. At the same time, reduction of mobility demand, preference for non-motorised modes of transport and reinforcement of public transport are at the core of sustainable urban mobility plans today.
